His Eminence, Francis Cardinal George, OMI, the Archbishop of Chicago and President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued another statement on the Health Care Reform legislation on which Congress appears ready to vote.
It seems to me that the basic message is this: the Bishops want and support comprehensive health care reform, but also want to maintain restrictions on abortion funding that are already in place under the Hyde Amendment. These restrictions are in place in the House bill, but not in the Senate bill.
